Two Timber Frame Extensions, Bury St Edmunds

Two timber-frame extensions to a bungalow in Bury St Edmunds, built to weathertight shell: groundworks, brickwork, frames, trussed roofs tiled to match, and grey fibre-cement cladding. See more of our work around Bury St Edmunds.

The client asked us to build the structures and finish the outside, leaving the interiors for them to complete. So this is a shell-and-weathertight job: everything from the ground to the ridge, finished externally, with the inside left boarded and ready for first fix.

We dug and poured the foundations, laid the brickwork plinths, erected the two timber frames and set the trussed roofs. Both roofs are tiled to match the existing bungalow so the extensions tie in from the street, and the walls are clad in grey fibre-cement weatherboard (Hardie Plank) for a low-maintenance finish that contrasts with the original brick.

Ten weeks from first dig to the cladding going on. The gallery runs from the finished exteriors back through foundations, frames and roof trusses.
